Information we collect
We do not ask you to create an account, and we do not collect your name, email address or other contact details unless you choose to write to us.
Server logs. Like almost every website, our web server automatically records technical information about each request: your IP address, the date and time, the page requested, your browser's user-agent string and the referring page. We use these logs only to operate and secure the site, for example to diagnose errors and block abuse. Logs are rotated automatically and deleted after about 14 days.
Calculators. The space calculators run entirely in your browser. Values you enter, such as your date of birth or weight, are not sent to our servers.
Local storage. We store a small flag in your browser so that the cookie notice is not shown again after you dismiss it.
Advertising
Deep Field is funded by advertising served by third-party ad networks. When a page with ads loads, these partners may set or read cookies, use similar technologies such as pixels or local storage, and receive information like your IP address, device and browser type, the page you are viewing and your approximate location derived from your IP address.
Advertising partners use this information to deliver ads, limit how often you see the same ad, measure ad performance and prevent fraud. Their use of the information is governed by their own privacy policies. We do not sell the information we collect ourselves.
You can limit cookie-based advertising by blocking third-party cookies in your browser settings, by clearing cookies regularly, or by using industry opt-out tools such as aboutads.info (US) and youronlinechoices.eu (EU).
Legal bases (EEA and UK visitors)
We process server-log data on the basis of our legitimate interest in running a secure website. Where required by law, non-essential cookies and similar technologies used for advertising rely on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time by clearing your cookies and site data.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal data about you, to object to or restrict its processing, and to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. Because we hold very little data that identifies you, the easiest way to exercise most of these rights is to contact us using the details below.
Children
Deep Field is a general-audience website. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Security
All traffic to this site is encrypted with HTTPS. Access to our servers is restricted and protected by key-based authentication.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the effective date at the top of this page.
